We also offer skylight installation and replacement, but our primary recommendation for most homeowners is a professionally installed sun tunnel due to its reliability, affordability, and strong lighting performance.
Whether you want to brighten a hallway, update a bathroom, or bring natural light into a room that feels closed off, our team helps you choose the right upgrade for your space, roof structure, and lighting goals.

Benefits of Sun Tunnels and Skylights

More Natural Light

More Natural Light

Sun tunnels brighten dark hallways, bathrooms, closets, and interior rooms with clean, balanced daylight. They make enclosed spaces feel larger and more welcoming without the need for artificial lighting.

Energy Savings

Energy Savings

Sun tunnels reduce daytime electricity usage and help regulate indoor temperature, improving overall energy efficiency. Homeowners often notice immediate savings after installation.

Improved Aesthetics

Improved Aesthetics

Both sun tunnels and skylights enhance your home’s appearance with natural light. Sun tunnels provide a clean, simple fixture, while skylights add a modern architectural feature.

Why Replace Skylights When Installing a New Roof

Most skylights age at the same pace as the roof. If your skylight is older, it may develop drafts, clouding, leaking, or mechanical issues. Replacing it at the same time as your roof installation is the most cost effective option.
New skylights offer better clarity, stronger seals, and improved energy efficiency. Installing a skylight where none existed before often requires framing and finishing, which adds cost and requires outside trades. Replacing an existing skylight during a new roof project avoids these extra steps and ensures a clean, secure seal.
For many homeowners, replacing an old skylight with a new sun tunnel provides a brighter, more efficient, and more affordable solution.

Sun Tunnels: The Best Option for Hard to Light Spaces

Not every room can support a skylight. Roof framing, attic space, plumbing vents, or HVAC systems often block skylight openings. In these situations, sun tunnels are the ideal alternative.
Sun tunnels deliver powerful natural light through a compact design that fits easily between framing members. They require no structural changes or permits in most cases. Installation is quick, clean, and significantly more affordable than a full skylight system.

Sun tunnels work best in rooms up to 200 square feet, including:

If you want brighter spaces without the major expense of a skylight, a sun tunnel is the perfect solution.

I was researching solar and reroofing options and even though I did not choose to work with this company in the end, I felt I had to give them good reviews for their help along the process. I had to get many quotes to understand the market and my options so I had to turn down all but 1 company in the end. But I do appreciate the information provided by Art Balaoro. Email communication is quick, clear, and informative. Answered my questions on roofing to work with a solar system for me and was very professional and patient. I think they would've been a solid choice too. I decided to work with a local family-owned roofer whose owner is the roofer and came in person.

We had Clean Roofing on as the company to do a major roof project for an expected future solar installation. Miguel Huerta and his crew did an excellent job on the project. We needed the whole roof replaced with new plywood, shingles and gutters and their team worked fast. It took a week for everything to be complete and they didn't leave a mess at all. Any complications that came up, they communicated it with us and resolved it in a timely manner. The quality of the roof overall is great and looks beautiful.

I chose Clean Roofing for a full roof replacement going from wooden shaker panels to composite asphalt. Clean Roofing also has a sister company called Clean Solar, and my initial contact was with Art (sales) who mostly answered my solar questions but was more than well versed in answering general questions on roofing as well. He was professional and didn't try to cross sell services, nor was he pushy when I was hesitating on such a costly expense. Ultimately, choose Clean Roofing over other companies because of the professionalism working with Art, the follow-ups, and the detailed quote provided. Their quote came in right in the middle of all the bids, and they have their master installer warranties to put the cherry on top.

Service:
I landed Rodrigo as the foreman and Miguel as my project manager. Both were communicative, and informed me of any issues as the project went along. I always have a healthy bit of skepticism when contractors leave the door open for "unforeseeable issues", but I felt they were very honest in terms of what absolutely needed to be repaired vs what could've waited. My project was close to 40k, but we only saw about a 1k over-run due to dry-rot. They took plenty of pictures of the problem areas, and gave me the option if I wanted to replace.

Miguel followed up daily to ensure I didn't have any questions, and Rodrigo led his crew with a professionalism that inspired confidence in his craftsmanship. He was also very joyful, and that's awesome to see someone that loves their job so much.

Cleanliness:
Re-roofing is a loud and messy job, but everyday I came home to a clean worksite. The floors were all blown clean, and they neatly made a pile of their tools in a corner of the driveway for use the next day. I have an exposed garage, and the team offered to tarp my belongings before the project started, and tried their best to clean the garage of all the debris that fell by the end of the project.

There was a bit of an obstruction that found it's way into my bathroom exhaust vent, but Rodrigo took care of it right away when he was back on site the next day by blowing it out.

Quality:
From what I could tell, the roof looks clean. It passed inspection on first try, and all flashings look properly cut. I guess I'll only truly know when it's rainy season again, but we love how clean the roof looks for now!

Would highly recommend Clean Roofing, their service was top notch and I feel confident in their work.

[UPDATED REVIEW]
Following the initial unfortunate incident, the company's president Micah personally reached out and assured that he would oversee the roof replacement process. Although their bid was not the most economical, I chose this company over several others due to positive reviews highlighting exceptional service.

The day of the teardown proceeded seamlessly. The team arrived promptly in the morning and removed the old roof within approximately three hours. Later that afternoon, new materials were transported onto the roof in preparation for an early start the next day. Anticipating potential rain, the crew covered the roof with felt paper to prevent any water leakage into the home. The re-roofing was efficiently completed within two days, and the team executed an outstanding job.

They undoubtedly went above and beyond, even touching up paint on trim and fascia boards, as well as patching small areas of stucco to ensure the roof's optimal appearance. Throughout the process, I experienced excellent communication, decision-making autonomy, outstanding customer service, and superior workmanship quality.

I would highly recommend Clean Roofing!

[PREVIOUS REVIEW]
I wanted to replace my roof and asked for a quote, The estimator visited the property and did an review and told me that i had 2 layers of roof and he would send an updated quote in next couple of hours. I was in a hurry to get the process started so i followed up the next day when the quote was not sent. They replied back with the updated quote.

I noticed that quote still mentioned 1 layer of roof removal. I asked for the correction on thursday and followed up again on monday when i didn't get a response on Friday.

i got a response but the price changed again, i was under the impression the initial updated quote was including the price of two roof layers. I expressed my displeasure at the of me having to follow up a lot and how this process has not been good so far.

But that's when i call back and had person yell at me, accusing me that i called off work hours and was expecting a response over the weekend. I never called that company or any person in that company but only have incoming calls. But the experience of person from a company yell at you because i expressed that i was having a bad experience in communication is a first me. All this before signing a contract, think of what you can expect after signing the contract. This should tell you of what kinds customer service you can expect from this company.

They are arrogant, non responsive and really difficult to work with. From my experience I would not work with this company, and advice other to do the same.

Why Sun Tunnels Are the Best Choice for Most Homes

Sun tunnels are often the most practical daylighting solution for San Jose homeowners. They deliver a strong, concentrated beam of natural light that illuminates interior spaces with no need for structural framing or expensive modifications.

Top reasons homeowners choose sun tunnels

Sun tunnels bring in more natural daylight than you might expect. They create a bright, clear light that helps small and mid sized rooms feel open and comfortable. They are also one of the most energy efficient ways to reduce daytime dependence on electric lighting. Because they require only a small roof opening and minimal interior work, installation is clean, fast, and affordable compared to skylights.
With a high quality sun tunnel installed by Clean Roofing, you get the benefits of natural light without the cost and disruption associated with traditional skylights.

Frequently Asked Questions

A sun tunnel brings concentrated natural light into smaller spaces through a reflective tube, while a skylight is a larger roof window that provides views and airflow. Sun tunnels are more affordable and easier to install.
It is highly recommended. Old skylights commonly leak or fog as they age. Replacing them during a new roof installation ensures proper sealing and long term protection.
Sun tunnels work best in smaller or mid sized spaces up to about 200 square feet. They are ideal for hallways, bathrooms, closets, and interior rooms with limited natural light.
Most sun tunnels do not require permits because they do not involve major structural changes. Skylights may require permits depending on framing and roof structure.
Sun tunnel installations are typically completed in a few hours. Skylight installations may take longer due to framing, roof opening, flashing, and interior finishing.
